Diary of a Bookseller: Shaun Bythell
Shaun Bythell's book, Diary of a Bookseller, chronicles a year in the life of The Bookshop - the largest second hand bookshop in Scotland. It contains over 100,000 books, spread over a mile of shelving along twisting corridors. Bythell paints, with Black Books-esque humour, a picture of a daily grind punctuated by time-wasting customers, the occasional golden find, and spits aptly as the monstrous online booksellers who dominate the market and drive small businesses into the ground. Bythell talks with former bookseller and author Megan Dunn.
Presented in association with WORD Christchurch and supported by British Council and Creative Scotland.
‘One of the funniest and most honest books you’ll read this year.'
